Precious resources theme of Beer & Berries festival

Every year this regional festival creates shared moments of learning, discussion and joy around contemporary growing while connecting food and drink producers and suppliers to buyers and customers. The programme sees Hospitalfield welcome a diverse range of contributors from the worlds of science and the arts all sharing insights, research and opportunities to connect with this year’s themes.

Highlights will include learning about the cultural significance of water deities and discussion about our changing relationship with water with author and cultural anthropologist Veronica Strang.

Professional dowser and geomancer Grahame Gardner will also host an introduction to water dowsing workshop giving participants a grounding in the use of the pendulum, L-rods and other dowsing tools.

Sound artist Bint Mbraeh will share her research into rain summoning music and how our experiences of water are a means to like experiencing the flow of time before performing a sound art composition.

Lucy Byatt, Hospitalfield director, said: "It’s the height of summer and Angus is bursting with fruit and full of grain, Beer & Berries is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the rich food and drink culture that is so abundant across Angus and Tayside, especially at this time of year.

"As well as delicious local produce, live music and a chance to enjoy the Hospitalfield garden in bloom, we will be foraging, planting, talking and listening.

"We can't wait to invite visitors to stroll around the many stalls and buy excellent quality food and drink, meet the producers, growers and local suppliers.”

Tickets start at £6 (under 12s free) and £12 to include talks and workshops with places booked in advance.
