Be inspired by Angus artist community

County-based charity Angus Creatives is building on the success of the 2022 event with a new festival date and a wide range of workshops and open studios.

Last year’s festival saw 34 venues open their doors to local folk and visitors who enjoyed the chance to learn new creatives skills like pottery, spinning, basket making and screen printing as well as being able to buy hand crafted items direct from the makers.

This year the festival will run from May 13-23 and will feature the remarkable array of talent that Angus offers.

There will be opportunities to see, try and buy fantastic Angus-based art, as well as a chance to see behind the scenes in creative spaces; talk to artists and perhaps buy some lovely new objects for the home.

A spokesperson said: “We welcome visitors of all ages, whether you are already someone who loves making or want to try it for the first time, come along and join in.

“There are workshops for all ages and skill levels and a wonderful choice of products available for sale.

Workshops suitable for children include; making a ceramic fossil, a glass suncatcher and handmade paper.”

There are venues in the main towns of Forfar, Kirriemuir, Arbroath, Brechin, Monifieth and Montrose and in the county’s smaller locales such as Tealing, Monkie, Douglastown and Guthrie.

This year the festival has also teamed up with local institutions and historic houses with events at Hospitalfield House and the Signaltower museum in Arbroath, Murton Wildlife Trust, Forfar, Barry Mill, Barry and The House of Dun, Montrose to celebrate Angus’s creativity and thriving artist and maker community.
