Artists invited to enter annual exhibition

Entries are now being sought for Angus’s biggest annual open art exhibition, which will be mounted in Forfar later in the year.

ANGUSalive is inviting artists, designers and craftspeople from all over the county as well as the rest of Scotland to be part of their biggest display of contemporary art, the Meffan Winter Show.

Entrants at all stages in their creative practices are welcome to submit work and the window for entries is open until Monday, October 2.

All pieces included in the exhibition will be eligible for the ANGUSalive Purchase Prize of £1500.

With this prize, pieces from the exhibition will be purchased for the Angus Fine Art Collection for future generations to enjoy.

There is also the Visitor’s Choice Award, a prize of £200, exclusively for amateur artists and chosen by public vote.

Meghann Logue, museums, galleries & archives exhibitions lead, said: “The Winter Show is always the most exciting time of year for all of us. All disciplines and forms of visual art, design and craft are welcome.

The ANGUSalive Meffan Winter Show 2023 will open to the public on Saturday, November 11 and run until Monday, January 8 at The Meffan Museum and Art Gallery on Forfar’s West High Street.

ANGUSalive aims to exhibit the largest and most diverse exhibition of contemporary art, design and craft to be held in Angus this year, giving visitors the opportunity to discover and enjoy.

All media from visual art, craft and design from artists at all stages in their creative practices will be considered so and entrants are being encouraged to surprise and intrigue the selection panel with their work.
