Preview of youth theatre's festival show

The yougsters will perform ‘The Sad Club’, by Luke Barnes & Adam Pleeth, before they head to Pitlochry Festival Theatre next month to take part in the event, which showcases the best of exciting young acting talent from across Scotland.

Tonight (Thursday, March 21) until Saturday in Studio 132, East High Street, the show is a musical about depression, anxiety and what it is like to be a young person in the modern world.

Featuring a collection of monologues, songs and duologues from all over time and space, the show explores how living in this world stops us from being happy and how we might go about tackling those problems.

On April 12, the cast will perform in Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Studio, along with Aberdeen-based Shazam Theatre and Aberdeen Academy of Performing Arts, and, from Falkirk, Denny High School Drama Club.

Now in its 29th year, Connections draws together 10 new plays from some of the UK's most talented and popular playwrights for young people – aged between 13 and 19 - to perform.

These are for a new generation of theatre-makers who want to ask questions, challenge assertions and test boundaries, as well as for those who love to invent and imagine a world of possibilities.
