DUNDEE Rep Theatre is pleased to announce that 80s icons Dempsey and Makepeace, real life husband and wife Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber, will perform the stylishly romantic play Love Letters at the theatre from May 7 until May 11.
Michael and Glynis met on the set of the 80s’ TV crime drama Dempsey and Makepeace where they played the oddball pairing of two police officers, street wise New Yorker Lieutenant James Dempsey and Sergeant (Lady) Harriet Makepeace.
Love Letters by American playwright AR Gurney has played both on Broadway and in the West End.
It travels to Dundee Rep for a limited run of 7 performances and is the only current Scottish date as part of its international tour.
Direct from a sell out run in Dubai Love Letters maps a fifty-year relationship between impulsive, rebellious Melissa Gardner and dependable, staid Andrew Makepeace Ladd III.
From the first exchange of thank you notes and RSVPs, a lifetime of letter writing ensues.
Love Letters is a witty and often candid glimpse into an unconventional romance.
Stylishly simple and elegant, this testament to the lost art of love letter writing is a touching reminder to not let the right one be the one that got away.
