RSNO serves up a feast of festive cheer

CHRISTMAS just wouldn’t be Christmas without the RSNO’s special feast of Christmas cheer.

The RSNO Christmas Concert takes place this year in the Caird Hall, Dundee on Friday, December 21 at 7.30 p.m.

Join the RSNO for this family friendly concert, packed full of your favourite festive melodies and singalong carols.

The concert includes the magical film, The Snowman, shown on the big screen and accompanied by the orchestra. Every year the film is narrated by a special guest star, and this year it is Maureen Beattie, the Irish-born Scottish actress of both stage and screen and daughter of Scottish actor Johnny Beattie.

Also taking part are the RSNO junior chorus.

The orchestra is back on Thursday, January 24, 2012 with their concert, Dvorak Eight.

If you love Dvorak’s New World Symphony, you won’t be surprised to hear that his Eight Symphony is every bit as enjoyable.

But you might be surprised by just how many tunes you go home humming!

The concert will be conducted by German conductor Christoph Altstaedt, Chief Conductor of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck, who will make his RSNO and UK début, replacing Andrey Boreyko.

There will be a pre-concert talk on this occasion at 6.45 p.m. with William Chandler, RSNO associate leader.

The concert begins at 7.30 p.m. More details from
