Opera feast from trio of talented artists

ANGUS opera lovers are looking forward to their concert at the Links Hotel, Montrose on Sunday, May 8 starting at 3 pm.

Three talented young artists will provide the opera feast. Colin Brockie, bass baritone, originally from Ellon studied at Gray’s School of Art. However, his first love is singing and he is presently taking a post-graduate Master in Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Also at the RNCM is Fae Evelyn, soprano from South Africa where she appeared in the “Last Night of the Proms” in Durban City Hall.As well as taking part in recitals she has a wide range of operatic roles at her command. Her principal tutor is Sandra Dugdale.

Supporting the two singers is Richard Bailey, an accompanist who graduated from Aberdeen last year and will begin his post-graduate course in Birmingham. His solo items include Songs Without Words by Mendelssohn and Maple Leaf Rag – Joplin.

The programme has a first half of operatic arias and duets ranging from Handel,Mozart and songs by Strauss and Finzi. Each item will be introduced by the artists. The second half has a lighter flavour with Cole Porter, Berlin and Rogers and Hammerstein.

Angus Opera Group and the Links Hotel, who have an established reputation for classical concert, have joined together for the May 8 event. AOG is devoted to enhance enjoyment of opera for all levels of knowledge. They meet monthly on the first Sunday at Edzell Parish Church Hall.
