After this year’s Live in the Den was a total wash out due to severe flooding, DD8 Music are putting on a Ska night to keep Kirrie warm this Saturday.
They’ve managed to attract three of the best live ska acts in the country who will perform in Kirrie Town Hall at 7.30 p.m
Root System are a four piece band of three brothers and close pal Ryan. They have been on the go for four years and have gigged up and down the country. They have also played at a few festivals including Rockness, Wickerman, The Wizard Festival and Tartan Heart. Their infectious brand of uplifting ska punk is always guaranteed to get the crowd going. Urang Matang are another hard working group of ska aficionados. The band released their debut album “Origin of the Species” in March 2011 on Houndsman records label and have been busy playing venues and festival throughout the U.K.
Last on are the fantastic Skababs - a seven piece outfit from Midlothian whose brass section is guaranteed to get you on your feet. They’ll be providing a set of classic ska and 2 Tone covers from favourites like Madness, The Specials, The Beat, Bad Manners, Toots and the Maytals and many more.
Tickets on sale in the Kirriemuir Art Gallery, Reform Street, The Toy Castle in Forfar and Groucho’s in Dundee.
As with all DD8 Music events, all profits will be going back into community music projects in the area, like the DD8 Music community recording studio in Kirriemuir, which runs free jam sessions for the youth of the area.
