The Carrivick Sisters are the guests of Montrose Folk Club on Thursday, October 10 in The Links Hotel, Mid Links, Montrose.
The Carrivick Sisters are one of the top young Bluegrass and folk acts in the UK.
Twins Laura and Charlotte perform their own original songs and instrumentals, along with a few carefully chosen covers, on guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dobro and clawhammer banjo.
They have a reputation for engaging and entertaining live performances with tight sibling vocal harmonies and multi-instrumental virtuosity. Having grown up in South Devon, an area rich in folklore and legends, much of their original material is inspired by their local surroundings and history.
The Carrivick Sisters were finalists in the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards 2010 and were named band/duo of the year in the 2011 FATEA Awards. More recently, Charlotte won first place in the banjo and fiddle categories at the FOAOTMAD Festival in Gainsborough.
Ralph McTell has described The Carrivick Sisters as “one of the best young duos that I have heard”. He said: “They are not only very talented instrumentalists and singers, but they write really good songs as well.”
Maverick Magazine gave the most recent CD by the Carrivick Sisters a Five Star Review as it demonstrated “rare instrumental and vocal superiority that puts their colleagues to shame; this is one duo which is going places.”
Everyone is welcome at Montrose Folk Club on Thursday, October 10 for an evening of entertaining upbeat music played by quality performers. The doors at The Links Hotel will be open at 7.30 p.m. with The Carrivick Sisters on stage at 8 p.m.
