Top Scottish folk rock band Skerryvore are to play live in Forfar’s Reid Hall in October at a gig being promoted by Forfar Dramatic Society.
The multi award-winning band has confirmed that the gig has been fitted into their touring schedule in what promises to be an exciting night of traditional folk rock music.
Skerryvore, formed on the Isle of Tiree in 2005, have just returned to Scotland following a tour of Europe that included Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg, and are playing a few dates in village halls in Scotland culminating in an appearance at the Tiree Music Festival in July. They head to the United States for a tour in August prior to a further European tour before the show in Forfar on Saturday, October 4.
The promoters are delighted that Skerryvore have agreed to play Forfar as part of the band’s already hectic schedule.
Skerryvore were catapulted into the musical limelight with the release of their self-titled third album which won them a string of prestigious awards, including Scottish New Music Awards Record of the Year 2011 and Scottish Traditional Music Awards Live Act of the Year 2011.
It also attracted much critical acclaim with Mick MacNeil of Simple Minds stating: “Skerryvore are the most promising young band in Scotland today”.
In June 2012 the band released what is undeniably their most polished and radio-ready album to date. ‘World of Chances’ weaves together the band’s spine-tingling musical talents with the award-winning songwriting abilities of frontman Alec Dalglish.
Tickets, priced at £15, are on sale now for what promises to be one of the most exciting nights on the Forfar music calendar for years. They can be bought on line from either www.forfardramatic.com or www.skerryvore.com.
