THE GUESTS at Montrose Folk Club this Friday in the Links Hotel, Mid Links, Montrose will be Kilmarnock Edition.

For their next two concerts the club is changing from its normal Tuesday night date to a Friday for both the appearance of Kilmarnock Edition on March 8 and that of American Blues guitarist and singer, Brooks Williams, on March 22.

For the first half of 2013, some of the nights at Montrose Folk Club will be on a Tuesday, whilst others will be on a Friday.

Kilmarnock Edition is a unique six-piece singer/songwriter band whose members hail from all over Scotland, and in fact Italy. Performing all totally original material, the band were originally brought together as individual winners of the “Burnsong International Songhouse” of 2009.

Since then they have developed a unique and exciting sound containing elements of Scottish and Gaelic folk song.

These are complemented with world rhythms, sprinkled with jazz dust as well as gentle folky acoustic sounds and topped off with an engaging element of Italian humour.

The members are Roberto Cassani, Lisa Rigby, Stu Clark, Fiona J MacKenzie, Yvonne Lyon and Alex Hodgson, all of whom are also very talented solo performers.

Yvonne Lyon has become known as one of the best singer/songwriters produced by Scotland in recent years.

Everyone is welcome at Montrose Folk Club on Friday for an evening of the best of modern Scottish song and song writing. The doors will be open at 7.30 p.m, will Kilmarnock Edition on stage at 8 p.m.
