It’s a big weekend for Tayside Symphony Orchestra this weekend as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The orchestra will mark the major milestone with a Grand Gala Concert in the Reid Hall, Forfar on Saturday, starting at 7.30 p.m.

To mark the occasion it has chosen an appealing programme of very well-known musical items including Beethoven’s ‘Fidelio’ Overture and the ‘Scottish Fantasia’ by Bruch, While Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No.2 will be on offer after the interval.

The soloist in the Max Bruch work is Ben Norris from Perth.

As usual a bus will run from Montrose/Brechin to Forfar: those interested should contact John Stevenson (01674) 830250.

Conductor Ron Walker said he was pleased with the way rehearsals have gone and that their loyal Angus audience will support the concert. Tickets from the Toy Castle, Forfar; Hoggs, Montrose, TSO/TSO committee members or at the door on the evening of the concert.
