Arbroath based musical theatre school, The LimeLight Company, will be broadening its horizons and starting classes in Forfar this month.
After a successful first year in Arbroath, the company’s directors have decided that Forfar will be home to its second school, held at St John’s Church on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Since May last year the company has pushed the boundaries of musical theatre, and challenged over 100 pupils through workshops and rehearsals for shows such as Seussical The Musical, Peter Pan and Hairspray. In March, they set themselves the challenge of breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest theatrical production by performing Guys and Dolls at The Webster Theatre in 22 hours 46 minutes.
The school set out to provide young people aged 4-18 with an expressive outlet through acting, singing and dancing, and educate the public in the arts. The classes are split into three age sections: The Little Lights (4-7), The Live Lights (8-11) and The Lime Lights (12-18). All sections receive the opportunity to perform in top class musicals, surrounded by professional equipment, in front of audiences of family, friends and members of the public.
Chris O’Mara and Michael Carlin, who have been treading the boards for over 20 years combined and who run the company, are looking forward to the opening of it’s Forfar branch.
They said: “Musical theatre is a fantastic way for kids to open up and explore new things, and we encourage all of our pupils to just let go in classes.”
An open day is being held this Saturday from 10-2 at St John’s Church. Contact email@example.com or phone Mike (07849597853) or Chris (07807646489). Also, check out the website (www.thelimelightcompany.co.uk), or follow them on facebook (search the limelight company).
