POPULAR Scots duo Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham are appearing in concert in Kirriemuir later this year.
Tickets are on sale now for the concert which will take place on Friday, September 28 in Kirriemuir Old Parish Church.
Described by Mike Russell in the Glasgow Herald as ‘simply the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear’, the popular duo begin touring Scotland on July 27 in Fochabers taking in, among others, Balloch, Banchory, Edinburgh, Orkney, Skye, Oban and Ayr, finishing at the Scottish Music Festival on October 11.
Aly Bain is Scotland’s supreme traditional style fiddler. His playing is unique - driving, impassioned and pure - with vibrant, unmistakable tone that has earned him a following of ardent fans throughout the world. Phil played accordion and violin from a very young age. At the age of 16, he joined his older brother Johnny in the folk group Silly Wizard, where he played accordion, tin whistle, harmonium, guitar, synthesizer and sang. He also wrote many of the group’s songs. He has since had a successful solo career and several collaborations with Scottish folk musician Aly Bain.
