PREPARATIONS have started for Tayside Symphony Orchestra’s first concert of next year which will be held on Saturday, February 4 in the Reid Hall, Forfar, beginning at 7.30 pm.
Entitled “Forfar Concert for Youth”, it is particularly aimed at young people with the programme including Peter and the Wolf, the “Theatre Ghost”, prelude to “Hansel and Gretel”, Copenhagen Steam Galop and the “Return of Superman”.
Tayside Symphony Orchestra is delighted to report it has acquired the services of George Donald, of “Scotland the What” fame, to act as narrator in Peter and the Wolf and the “Theatre Ghost.”
Ron Walker, TSO conductor said: “On this special occasion we are providing two opportunities for youngsters to hear and enjoy the music.
“In the afternoon we would welcome them to the orchestra’s final rehearsal in the Reid Hall, starting at 2 pm.
“Schools can bring groups to the practice or the young people can attend on their own, both free of charge.
“In the evening, as usual, we offer free entry to children under 16 who are accompanied by an adult.
“I am delighted to be working with George.
“We all know what a talented musician he is and we are looking forward to seeing him in a new role, as a narrator.
“Further details about the concert will appear in the new year.
“I would like to finish by wishing all our loyal supporters the compliments of the season and good health in 2012.”
