Dougie joins celebrations

DOUGIE MacLean, one of Scotland’s most popular musicians, is to perform in Arbroath as part of the Bell Rock Lighthouse 200th anniversary celebrations.

He will perform at the Webster Memorial Theatre on Saturday, May 28 as an addition to the Year of Light programme.

Dougie (56), has received two prestigious Tartan Clef Awards, a place in the Scottish Music Hall of Fame and an OBE in the New Year Honours list.

His career started with the Tannahill Weavers in 1976 before he launched his solo career in 1981.

He plays many instruments, including guitar, violin, mandola, viola, bouzouki, banjo and bass.
