Local charity Angus Arts is returning to The Retreat in Glenesk this Saturday (October 4) for one of its popular ‘food and film’ evenings.
This time the theme is French, with a screening of ‘Le Weekend’, a British-made bittersweet comedy directed by Roger Mitchell and written by Hanif Kureishi.
Maria MacDonell, Angus Arts’ co-creative director, said: “It’s about Nick and Meg Burrows, a married academic couple from Birmingham who are advancing in age, and tension. To mark their 30th wedding anniversary they embark on a trip to Paris, the place they honeymooned three decades ago. They’re hoping to rejuvenate their marriage but needless to say not everything goes as planned. It has a great cast including Jim Broadbent, Lindsay Duncan and Jeff Goldblum.”
To complement the film The Retreat will provide a delicious French-themed meal of Bouillabaisse (French stew, with vegetarians catered for) and mini French pastries.
The event starts at 7 p.m. and the bar will be open throughout the evening. As the organisers need an idea of how many to cater for, pre-booking is required. Tickets cost £10 (including food) and can be purchased from Angus Arts on 01561 298173/01356 670304, by emailing email@example.com or from The Retreat.
