THE annual Angus Arts Easter Puppet Festival is here again.

Stracathro Hall, Inchbare, just off the A90 on the B966, is once again the venue for this popular event which takes place on Friday and Saturday, April 6 and 7 as part of the nationwide Puppet Animation Festival.

There are fabulous Angus Arts puppet making workshops at 11am on Friday and at 10.30am on Saturday and brilliant Puppet Shows at 3pm on each afternoon.

“Pop-Up Circus!” at 3pm on Friday is created especially for very young children. Performed by Francisca Morton it is a gentle, interactive first trip to the circus especially for pre school ages. The performance at 3pm on Saturday will entertain all ages.  “Little Red … You Know Who!” takes a well-known traditional story and turns it into a spell-binding play, following a magical path through the woods.

The production uses wonderful music composed by Hugh Nankivell on a multiplicity of instruments ranging from piano and cello to Turkish cymbals and bicycle bells!

The workshops at 11 am on Friday and 10.30am on Saturday are for all ages; adults, children and young people, with under eights accompanied.

Maria MacDonell, one of the workshop leaders said: “We will be using a wide range of exciting materials and methods to help people make fabulous puppets and short presentations.

“It is always magical how quickly puppets and stories emerge and people of all ages enjoy the sessions. Sometimes a whole family will come and join in, including granny, or sometimes a child or adult on their own. We’re looking forward to seeing familiar festival faces and welcoming many new people too.”

Tickets are £5/£16 for a family with two year olds and under free. Show and workshop tickets can be booked by phoning us on 01356 648 669 or 01356 670 304 and show tickets only can be bought at Newsplus, St. David’s Street, Brechin and from The Edzell Post Office or online at www.neatshows.org.uk
