Wall Projects has an established reputation for exhibiting interesting and challenging contemporary art in the north-east in the welcoming atmosphere of the home of artist and owner Kim Canale.
Over the years Kim has showcased the work of up and coming artists and she recently opened a new exhibition space at The Old Rope Works in Montrose
Her latest show features Glasgow-born artist Stuart Buchanan who now lives in Catterline.
His move to this area which has so inspired his work came about four years ago when he was appointed artist in residence with Aberdeen City Council.
He said: “Previously my work was purely figurative, now the figures have shrunk and they are figures in a landscape.”
Inspired by his surroundings and notable artists such as Joan Eardley as well as Annette Stephen and Lil Neilston, Stuart’s new collection is varied and magical and this exhibition presents a rare opportunity for local art lovers.
The exhibition is on until Saturday, June 14. To arrange a time to view contact Kim on 077143 68203 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Not all roads lead to Glasgow and Edinburgh, and it was this in mind that led Kim to bring emerging art stars of the future to Montrose, as well as showing established artists at the peak of their careers.
Now with her own studio in The Old Rope Works and with the help of owners Lynda and Neil Paton, Kim has transformed the upper level into a studio/gallery which is perfect for an arts hub, exhibitions and workshops.
