Getting crafty at Letham show

REGULAR customers of Mary Cruickshank will be delighted to know that, following a gap of two years, she will be exhibiting at the Christmas Craft Fair in Letham Village Hall on the weekend of November 24 and 25.

Mary’s unique silk flower arrangements and wonderful creations, provide gifts for all occasions. As well as her floral work, Mary will also bring examples of spicecraft which include clove hearts, bells, horse shoes, clove pomanders, decorated walnuts incorporating cloves, small and large stars made up using cones, unusual seed heads, nuts, cloves, root ginger and star anise.

Mary’s Christmas decorated cones and walnuts are very popular.

While much depends on what materials are available, the end results also depend to a great extent on Mary’s imagination, which is what makes them so different.

From her base in Aberdeen, Mary has been creating her unusual if not unique creations for over 20 years. Over these years, she has travelled and exhibited in Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perthshire, attending many of the agricultural shows, craft fairs and exhibitions – also supporting many fund raising events.

Mary gets a great deal of pleasure and enjoyment from her craft; from sourcing the materials; then creating, displaying and selling. Another pleasurable aspect of the experience is meeting her customers, many of whom have over the years, become very good friends.

There is no doubt her friends and customers in the Letham area will give her a very warm welcome at the Craft Fair on Saturday, November 24, and Sunday, November 25.
