Different strokes from trio of artists

Three local artists have joined forces to host the ‘Different Strokes’ exhibition featuring over 60 original and unique pieces of art at the University of Dundee Botanic Gardens.

The combined forces of Emma MacSporran, Lynda Marshall and Helen Whamond bring three completely different styles together resulting in an exciting and eclectic exhibition which opens to the public on Friday, December 2.

Emma graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1997 with an honours degree in Printed Textiles and a degree show which featured in Homes & Interiors Scotland Magazine.

She has an experimental style, working with spray paint and enamel to create abstract pieces with focus on colour, texture and movement.

A relative new-comer to the art world, Lynda draws inspiration from sky effects and sunsets, usually painting pastel landscapes, seascapes or skies, but also enjoys experimenting with textured acrylic and mixed media.

Helen graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 1993, having completed a BA(Hons) Fine Art – Drawing and Painting. She then became involved in teaching art at evening classes and also with youth work in Dundee, using graffiti art with groups.

Helen enjoys experimenting in her art and works in all drawing and painting materials.

The three artists will host a “Meet the Artists” reception in the Botanics Gallery on Saturday, December 3 from 1pm to 3pm.

The exhibition is open daily from 10.30 am to 3.30pm and runs until Sunday, December 11.
