Kim Canale of Wall Projects in Montrose is delighted with her latest exhibition which is currently running in her home studio.
It features the work of Anna King, a big name in Scotland and the u.K. her work is now in real demand.
‘Anna King - A Landscape of Imagination’ runs at Kim’s Wellington Street gallery until Saturday, November 16.
Since Anna graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone in 2005, the painter has made her own unique mark on the art world and has exhibited all over the UK.
Kim, who runs who runs Wall Projects contemporary art, has been exhibiting Anna’s work since 2006.
Anna has won prestigious art awards and in 2007 the young artist won the Jolomo Lloyds TSB Landscape prize of £20,000.
She said: “I paint scenes from the edges of our habitation, the overlooked, peripheral places; wastelands, patches of scrub, lorry containers and abandoned buildings, that are more often viewed flashing past from the inside of a car. Climbing through a broken window or fence, I find myself in a no-man’s land, unclaimed territory, that for a while anyway – I can have as my own, documenting the traces of human activity left there”.
This new exhibition is a collection of new works, part urban part landscape, but all with King’s distinctive cool palette of muted colours and considered mark and line making - a must see show. Jackie Wullschager of the Financial Times wrote: “Something of Joan Eardley’s response to nature as an untameable force is echoed in King’s bleakly attractive images of post-industrial landscapes.” Viewing is by appointment only - call Kim Canale on 07714368203 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
