A TRIO of local martial arts enthusiasts were in medal-winning form at the ITF Scotland National Championships held in Glasgow in mid-February.

Four members from the Forfar School of TaeKwon-Do made the journey and once again put in a sterling performance, with Mike Stewart (1st Kup) acquitting himself extremely well in his first taste of action in the Blackbelt light weight sparring division.

Mike won a silver medal (Red Belt Senior Patterns) and a bronze medal (Senior Red/Black Lightweight Sparring).

There was gold for Sophie Donaldson in the 13-17 year old Special Technique and she also took bronze in the 13-17 year old Blue Belt Patterns.

Calum Wright struck gold in the under-nine Blue Belt patterns and won a silver medal in the under-nine 135-145cm sparring).

A fourth local competitor, Liam Rattray, did not secure a medal position, although he put in a strong performance and can be very proud of his efforts.

Forfar School of TaeKwon-Do trains at Strathmore Primary School on Monday and Thursday evenings. For more information visit the website or telephone Mr Gary Ingram (2nd Degree) on 01674 677415.
