FORFAR Road Runners took advantage of a break in a congested fixture list to stage their own handicap race on Sunday past.
The latest in the six-mile series over the Suttieside circuit saw a break in the wet conditions although the runners were greeted by sultry, humid conditions with the odd faraway rumble of thunder.
Guest runner Lynn Henderson of Arbroath topped the rankings in splendid style with a run of 40-37 with Brian Niblock leading male in 43-00. Other finishers include Donna Pass 44-17, Guy Sinclair 44-50, Jack Davies 45-05, Mark Melnyk 47-16, Elizabeth Montgomery-Fox 49-55, Pauline Fairbairn 54-07 and Bev Smeaton 56-31. Cousins Ian and Scott Wilson completed a single lap in 35-38 and 32-11 respectively.
Tonight (Wednesday) sees the club in Kirriemuir for the club training run commencing at 6.45pm from Bellies Brae car park.
On Friday evening the club stages the four-mile hill race over Balmashanner with registration in the Osnaburg Bar at 6pm (race start 7pm).
Looking ahead, Eventfulbiz stage the Dundee half marathon this Sunday from Camperdown park with Fife AC hosting the Newburgh five-mile race on July 20, the Montane Lakeland 100 and 50 mile events on July 29, Ben Rinnes hill race on July 30 and Ballater 10 on July 31.
August 9 sees the local club host the four-mile run/12 mile cycle duathlon with Balmullo trial race on August 11. Entries are being accepted for the Forfar 10km road race on Sunday, August 21.
