A Kirriemuir local has been recognised for his sporting prowess at one of Robert Gordon University’s most prestigious awards ceremonies.
Jamie Wilmshurst (19) from Kirk Wynd, received the Fresher of the Year accolade at the RGU: SPORT Awards Ball – sponsored by international energy consultancy, Xodus Group last month.
The first year Applied Sport and exercise Science student was recognised for his all-round ability in swimming, water polo and football. A particular highlight of the year saw Jamie and his fellow RGU football team mates win the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Scottish Conference Cup in March. He was also able to demonstrate his all-round ability at the annual intervarsity Granite City Challenge against the University of Aberdeen where he was on the winning team for all three sports. The RGU: SPORT Awards Ball is the highlight of the University’s sporting calendar.
