Strathie U-16s put in a strong performance against Carnoustie at Inchmacoble in the Division 2 league encounter.

Strathie got of to a great start, with Dean Farquharson romping in for the first score of the day.

Strathie were camped in Carnoustie half for most of the first half, exerting huge amount of pressure on the visitors.

Carnoustie defended well, but finally Murray Mitchell drove over the line after great work by the forwards. Mitchell added the conversion for a 12-0 lead.

Carnoustie fought back and scored right on half-time.

The second half saw Carnoustie again pile on the pressure and this led to a try under the posts, adding the conversion to draw the match level.

Strathie again showed real character and a great run and chip ahead from Drew Speed saw him gather his kick and touch down for an excellent try, the tricky conversion going narrowly wide.

Carnoustie rallied well in the final minutes resulting in a try to again level the game. The conversion was pushed wide and the game finished 17–17.
