STRATHMORE Cricket Club’s first team continued their rich vein of form on Saturday.
They managed to dodge some heavy showers to demolish Huntly at lochside, and rack up a fifth successive victory.
Huntly had first lease of a wicket that has been battered by rain in recent weeks, and they struggled to give Strathie a decent target to aim at.
The writing was on the wall early doors when Shaun Wilkie trapped the dangerous S. Variath for a duck and Huntly were soon struggling at 20 for three. eventually folding to 57 all out.
The other opener, R. Thomson (13), was the only batsman to make double figures, with extras at 23 the ‘highest scorer’.
Gary Hewitson led the way with the ball, taking four wickets for 19, while I. Saim chipped in with three for 11.
Getting to the Huntly total was something of a cruise for the home side.
Gary Hewitson (15 not out) and Mark Stewart (18) laid a solid platform and it was left to the big hitting Steve Blackie to finish the game off with a trade-mark six.
The Strathie firsts head north to take on Mannofield this coming Saturday, before Dundee High School FP come to lochside a week on Saturday (August 11).
The Sunday action this weekend sees the seconds entertain Golendelvine.
