The bragging rights went to the under 30s on Friday night after the Strathie firsts took on the Strathie Legends at Inchmacoble.
It was the first XV under 30s who enjoyed the spoils after three 20-minute games on a damp and cold evening.
The highly anticipated fixture saw the young guns show up with a squad of 18, while the Legends had 40 players in their pool with Brechin Bruce assisting their numbers.
The first third saw the Under 30s on the back foot for nearly all of it; the young guns did not envisage the power and strength of the Legends, so a harsh team talk was given by captain Scott Strachan at the first half time stop.
It seemed to work as within five minutes of the second 20, the under 30s scored with a blistering run from Rory Collins.
After some superb play and brave defence the under 30s struck again with a suspiciously forward pass allowing Ewen Hart to cross the whitewash and score the second try of the night.
Within two minutes of the restart old timer and true Legend of Strathmore RFC Fred Crowe scored a much-needed try to keep the Legends in the game.
In the final 20 the Legends upped their game, however they couldn’t stop another quick try from the under 30s and were soon fighting a losing battle.
The Legends scored another try right under the posts, but it was to no avail.
After a couple of minutes of play with some dubious numbers on the pitch for the Legends, the ref blew his whistle for full time with the final score 34-10 to the under 30s.
The club wishes to thank all of those who supported the event with special thanks to Brechin Bruce and match sponsors Angus Trophy Centre.
On Wednesday evening (tonight) a Strathmore XV is at home to Harris in a friendly game, kick off is 7.30 p.m.
