Forfar Badminton Club junior section started its in-house annual competition on Friday past at the games hall in Forfar Academy.
In the Under-11 boys’ singles there was a round robin with Rory Ironside, Blair Quinn and Kian Martin. In a keenly contested event Rory came out on top beating Blair 15-10 and Kian 15-10. In the final game Kian just got the better of Blair to win 15-10 to settle the final results.
In the girls’ singles semi-finals Lauren Clark overcame Rebecca Candy 15-8. In the second semi-final Katie Stark beat Christy Milne 15-3 to go through to the final against Lauren. In the final, Katie proved to be too strong for Lauren and went on to win 15-4.
The final event on Friday was the boys’ Under-17s’ singles. In pool one Samuel Hill came out on top beating Kerr 21-14 and Aiden 21-14. In the final pool game Kerr won 21-9 against Aiden.
In pool two Adam Black came through by beating Greg 21-17 and Jamie 21-13. In the final pool game Greg beat Jamie 21-17. The final of this event between Samuel and Adam will be held on Friday night.
The singles events will resume on Friday with the Under-15 boys’ singles, Under-13 boys’ singles and Under-14 girls’ singles.
