Fourth spot for Forfar Swimming Club

Forfar Amateur Swimming Club were fourth in the second Premier League gala of the season, held at Montrose swimming pool, not far behind Kinross in third place.

Dundee City Aquatics first team were placed first, St Thomas were second and Menziehill & Whitehall were fifth.

The 13/14 girls were in superb form on the night, achieving 22 points out of a possible 30.

Lucy Richardson, Katie Phillips, Ellie McCallum and Zoe Wilmshurst teamed up to win the Medley relay, and were second in the freestyle relay.

Ellie won her individual breaststroke event, and Katie was second in the butterfly.

The ten and under boys also swam well with second places in both relays.

Mac Whyte won his freestyle race, and Rohan Brown is making a habit of being first in his backstroke swim! Calum Kelman and Matthew McSheffrey secured more team points with their individual butterfly and breaststroke swims.

The 15 and over boys team comprising Ryan Nicoll, Mike MacKenzie, Glen Milne and John McKay were second in the freestyle relay and third in the Medley. John and Mike were both second in their freestyle and butterfly swims respectively.

Jade Doig, Becky Laird, Lauren Millar and Becky Wilmshurst swam the relays for the ten and under girls, also swimming individual breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and backstroke, in that order.

Becky Laird swam a fantastic race to be placed first in the butterfly.

The 11/12 girls of Kirsty Richardson, Erin Brown, Naimh McSheffery and Chloe Reilly were third in their Medlay relay and fourth in the freestyle relay.

Erin did well to secure a second place in the butterfly race, and Kirsty had a change of scene in the backstroke to be placed a creditable third.

Molly Sinclair replaced Chloe in the individual freestyle race and gained another team point.

Jamie Richardson, Ross Brown, Luke Millar and Jack Green were third in both relays for the 11/12 boys.

Ross did very well in the individual backstroke to get a first place. Calum Sinclair was the sole representative for the 13/14 boys, swimming in the breaststroke and freestyle. Every point was vital, with Menziehill & Whitehall only four points behind.

Fiona McKenzie was second in the backstroke for the 15 and over girls.

She teamed up with Nicki Wilmshurst, Holly Richardson and Sarah Niblock for the relay swims against some extremely tough opposition.

The ‘Man of the Meet’ for this gala was Rohan Brown. ‘Gala Star’ was Ellie McCallumfor her highly competitive breaststroke race.

Endeavour awards went to Beck Laird for her butterfly win, and Mac Whyte for his freestyle win.

Well done to all the swimmers who took part. Thanks must go to the coaches who volunteer to teach and coach all the swimmers at the club. Thanks also to the parents and helpers who give up their spare time at swimming sessions and also at galas. Without them, the gala could not go ahead.
