Forfar curling

It HAS been a busy week with club trophy, pairs and friendly matches taking place.

Two games were played in the Club Trophy. Anne Shaw, Gillian Duff, Anne Cant and Mari Brown met Jean Balfour’s team of Lillian Carnegie (sub), Elizabeth Robertson and Mary Campbell.

Anne started the ball rolling winning the first end but Jean came back and steadily gained points until Anne came back with six shots at the fifth end, however the end result was peels at nine.

Mary White’s team featured Karen Neill in third position with Barbara Smith and Linda Smeaton (sub) in their roles of second and lead respectively. Their opponents for the day were Helen Christie, Maureen Pattullo, Nan Hamilton and Diana Ewart. It was a close game although the score didn’t reflect that with Mary winning by 9-3.

In the District Medal, Forfar Ladies’ Mary White, Lillian Carnegie, Gillian Duff and Rhoda Keith played Coupar Angus & Kettins and recorded a fantastic win for Forfar Ladies with the final score 10-1.

Forfar Ladies were invited to join Aberdeen Ladies for the annual curling game. Both teams had a closely fought matches and were treated to fabulous hospitality from Aberdeen teams.

Irene Millar and Mari Brown had a close game against Margaret Grant and Lindsey Hamilton, final score 5-2.

Mary White and Karen Neill played Dorothy Robson and Diana Ewart with a final score of 7-1.

Moira Adam and Rhoda Keith had a win against Anne Shaw and Isla Miller. Moira won the first three ends, Anne came back winning four shots at the sixth end but not enough to take the game. Final score 7-5.

Jean Balfour and Mary Campbell had a very close game against Helen Christie (sub) and Barbara Smith ending in peels at 4-4. Margaret Grant and Lindsey Hamilton had a well deserved win over Mary White and Karen Neill at 9-2.

The Forfar Ladies’ Christmas Lunch is to take place on Monday, December 10, at the Forfar Ice Rink. All members and past members are invited.
