The junior section of Forfar Badminton Club completed its annual in-house competition over the last two Friday nights at Forfar Academy.
The first event completed was the under-17 girls’ singles final contested between Carrie Shepherd, last year’s winner, and Amy Ironside. A very tight final was eventually won by Amy 21-18.
The under-18 mixed doubles event saw Amy Ironside and Uthman Ahmed playing Carrie Shepherd and Kerr Low.
This final proved to be an even closer affair with Carrie and Kerr just coming out on top 25-23 in a match that could have gone either way.
The under-15 girls’ doubles saw Katie Stark and Christy Milne playing Zaib Ahmed and Maggie Forsyth in the final.
Another hard-fought final saw Katie and Christy just break away to win. The final event was the under-14 girls’ doubles and the final was between Georgie Braithwaite and Elysia Forbes and Louise Hill and Katie Stark.
The final was keenly contested with Georgie and Elysia winning 21-17
Friday night was the final session of the junior club for this season and all that remains is the presentation of club competition prizes on a Monday night after the school Easter holidays. Those involved will be contacted about the presentation as soon as possible.
Thanks go to all the youngsters who have attended the junior club since October and the senior club members who have given up their Friday evenings to coach and support them.
Senior club members please note that Monday, March 31 is the last club night for two weeks as a result of the school holidays.
