ANOTHER competitive season in the Forfar Pool League will soon be at an end.
AS the countdown to finals day, to be held at the Forfar branch headquarters of the Royal British Legion Scotland on Sunday, May 6, the latest winners of silverware are the Burns A.
They defeated the Victoria Bar B by 29 points to 18 to clinch the Sandy Pirie Cup.
There were as a couple of league fixtures last week, with the results as follows:- Victoria Bar C 5, West End Bar B 13; Bar Central 14, Thistle Bar A 4.
This Thursday (tomorrow) will see a double fixture - with Victoria Bar B facing West End Bar B and Thistle Bar A at the same time!
The other fixtures see the Plough Inn hosting the Victoria Bar C and Thistle Bar B at home to the Bar Central.
The league table is as follows:- 1, West End Bar A, 42 points from 24 games; 2, Bar Central, 40 from 23; 3, Victoria B, 32 from 22; 4, Burns, 31 from 23; 5, Strathmore, 31 from 24; 6, Legion, 29 from 24; 7, West End Bar B, 23 from 23; 8, Cricket Club, 20 from 24; 9, Victoria C, 17 from 23; 10, Thistle Bar B, 17 from 23; 11, Victoria A, 12 from 24; 12 Plough, 7 from 23; 13, Thistle Bar A, 1 from 22.
On finals day, a star attraction will be Scotland’s number one player, Pat Holtz, who will present the silverware and play some exhibition games on the day.
Money raised will be in aid of CHAS and Marie Curie.
The competitive side of the day will get underway at 12.30 pm, with players involved in the various finals asked to sign in by 12 noon at the latest.
