MEMBERS of Forfar Amateur Swimming Club had their annual presentation dance recently, catching up on the postponed event following the snow last year.
The dance was held in the Reid Hall with a large number of swimmers and family attending.
There was a fantastic collection of silverware and trophies which were presented to the swimmers by the club coaches, for the various gala events and technical swims.
This year the club was presented with a new trophy by Margaret Wilson in memory of jockey Jan Wilson, who used to swim with the club.
The new trophy, for endeavour throughout the year, was presented by Mrs Wilson to Laura Forbes, who has both swum for the club and is now assisting the club teachers to help younger swimmers.
The Trainer of the Year trophy, the Sangster Cup, was presented to Joshua Richardson, who has progressed through the club’s “Learn to Swim” programme and joined junior coaching.
Swimmer of the Year was awarded to Katie Phillips, following an impressive year of achievement at club and district level.
Katie was one of five Forfar swimmers chosen to take part in the Midland District Regional Squad.
In the Midland District Championships she achieved one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
She also took part in the Scottish National Age Group Championships in Glasgow.
She was first in her age group in the club championship and was chosen to swim for the Midland District in the Inter-Counties competition in Sheffield.
The club is looking forward to another year of successful swimming with teaching Level 3 to 8 of the Learn to Swim programme and swimming coaching.
