Andrew Woodroffe almost made the top 10 in his age group at the European Triathlon Championships in Geneva recently.
The Forfar lad finished 11th in a time of just more than two hours in what he said was the biggest race of his season so far.
He said: “This for me was the biggest race of the season so far, and the one I have been working hard for since last year, so the build-up and training for this was tough and long.
“The race went really well. The swim was really good, though it felt longer against the current and up the lake.
“Out of the water I was tried but ready to open up on the bike, and the course suited me with two big climbs while the rest was very flat and very fast.
“The crowds were amazing and to have my parents there made a really special impact.
“Coming over the line in 11th I was really pleased, I did everything right in the race and raced to the best of my ability.”
Next up for the athlete is the British Championships where he will look to secure a top 10 finish, before heading to the World Championships in Chicago in September.
Andrew is still actively seeking sponsorship to fund his triathlon aspirations, and anybody interested in doing so is invited to email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
