Results Gym Fight Team achieved success at the WKA Scottish championships last weekend by winning one gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

This event was the qualifying tournament for the world championships which will be held in Italy later this year.

Head coach George Bertie, who runs Results Gym, took his team to compete at the Ravenscraig Sports Centre in Motherwell where local lad Bradley Archibald became the new WKA Scottish grappling champion in the cadet section.

“The results team missed out narrowly in three more finals and had outstanding performances on the day,” said George.

This is a very tough tournament where fighters from all over Scotland try to earn their place on the Scottish team.

George said: “The highlight of the day was when newcomer Richard Bartalos came away with a third place victory.

“Richard is very new to the sport and has great potential.

“His matches were very entertaining and he came away as number three in Scotland for his debut event.

“It’s great to see 16-year-old lads doing something constructive and doing well in sport.”

Medals on the day were: Bradley Archibald - Gold, Danny Patterson - Silver, Chris Cownie - Silver, James Pattie - Silver, Lewis Meldrum - Bronze, Richard Bartalos - Bronze.

Brandon and Bradley Hanmore, Ryan Finlayson, Andrew Short and Jonathan Blackie were also competing on the day.
