BUSY SPELL FOR FORFAR INDOOR BOWLERS
FORFAR Indoor Bowling Club had a busy time over the weekend, the main event being mixed pairs competition for the Hazel Murray Memorial Trophy.
The competition was sponsored by Alex White, in memory of his late partner Hazel who tragically died very suddenly last year.
She was a highly regarded member of the committee and very popular with all who knew her, evidenced by the large turnout of competitors and spectators.
The first winners of the trophy, which was presented by her father, ex-club president Bill Morrice, were Audrey Stewart and Phillip Nicoll, the runners-up being Wilma Carrie and Michael Nicoll.
Also on the agenda was a presentation of four sets of practice bowls for use by the junior section, by Raymond Preston who, regrettably, has had to give up the game due to ill health.
Raymond, who hails originally from Staffordshire, wished to show his appreciation in a tangible way for the friendliness and good spirit he enjoyed over his years on the 'green'.
President Ian Stewart expressed his grateful thanks on behalf of the members for his very generous donation.
