THERE was no joy for Kirrie Thistle or Forfar Albion on Saturday past, both suffering reverses in the East North League.
Kirrie Thistle went down by two goals to nil at Dundee Violet.
It was always going to be a tough ask for the men from Westview against a team with a one hundred percent league record.
Scott Reynolds gave Violet the lead in 20 minutes with a well-taken free-kick and, although Thistle gave it their best shot thereafter, they were undone in the dying seconds when Stewart McConnachie went down in the box and Reynolds stepped up to make the points safe for the home side.
Forfar Albion were also in the city, where they lost by three goals to one to Dundee North End.
The home side led by two goals at the break, Michael Hoy and Gary Muckersie on the mark.
Albion succeeded in reducing the leeway through Joe Tindall, but Davie O’Neill made absolutely sure of the points with a third strike for North End.
This coming Saturday, Kirrie Thistle are involved in cup action.
In the opening round of the East of Scotland tourney they entertain Dalkeith Thistle (kick-off 1.30 pm).
In the East North League, Forfar Albion entertain Coupar Angus (kick-off 1.45 pm).
