Forfar Road Runners were well to the fore in the inaugural Ronnie McIntosh Memorial 10K held at Camperdown Park on Sunday.

Forfar’s Tracy Morgan finished second in the ladies’ race in a time of 42 minutes and 52 seconds with club mate Brian Bonnyman taking third place in the men’s race in 36.26.

Under-20s junior Jamie Crowe of Dundee Hawkhill Harriers pulled off an impressive double by winning both the 10K and 5K events, staged to celebrate Ronnie’s life and to raise awareness of organ donations and transplants.

Crowe finished the 10K in 35.32 having pulled away from his club mate Gordon Barrie over the final stages, with Barrie finishing first V40 in a time of 35.53. Gillian Sangster, racing in her new Dundee Road Runners colours, was first lady back in 41.13.

Brian Niblock was next home for Forfar Road Runners, followed by Karen Campbell in 49.41, Sarah Clark, and Angie Mackenzie in around 57.57.

Local junior Rebecca Campbell running for Dundee Hawkhill completed the 5K event in 32.30.

With so many club members competing in Dundee only three runners turned out for the last club six miler of the season. Billy Douglas clocked the fastest time of the day, finishing in 47.03, with Hugh Mackenzie not far behind in 48.23 and Angela Beattie finishing in 50.49.
