Forfar West End player-manager Daryl McKenzie has confirmed the signing of five players ahead of his side’s return to the East Region Premier League.

Joining the fold at Strathmore Park is Lochee United goalkeeper Darryl Burns, 28-year-old Fraserburgh and ex-Kirrie Thistle centre half Derek Patterson and versatile Arbroath Vics midfielder Craig Stephen, who was recently plying his trade in the amateur ranks.

McKenzie is also keen to add a striker while two other acquisitions won’t be announced until their previous clubs have been made aware of the deals.

The delighted gaffer told the Dispatch: “I’m over the moon with the guys we’ve got.

“All the guys we’ve got were actually our first choices, which is very rare in junior football.

“They were the five guys we initially approached.

“I’m very confident that we have assembled the right squad that can now, not only go into that league and be competitive, but that can go in and win games.

“If we can add that one more with the little bit of quality up front we’ll be exactly where we want to be.

West End begin their run of friendlies on July 19.
