FORFAR took three points back to Station Park on Saturday with a 3-2 away win against Ayr United.
Goals came from Iain Campbell, Gavin Swankie and Martyn Fotheringham with David Sinclair taking two for Ayr.
The result has left Forfar sitting third in the league behind Arbroath and Queen of the South and on par with near neighbours Brechin City.
Ayr United were the first to open the scoring when David Sinclair found the top corner of the net just six minutes in.
But a penalty awarded to Forfar in the 45th minute brought the scores level on the break. Iain Campbell slotted the ball in after John Robertson had impeded Chris Templeman inside the box.
The deadlock did not last long after half time, however, when Sinclair again sent a 20-yard free kick straight past Loons ‘keeper Derek Soutar to make it 2-1 to Ayr.
Their lead lasted just seven minutes when Ross Campbell set up Forfar’s top scorer Gavin Swankie to get his fourth goal of the campaign in just three games.
With the match heading towards a draw, Martyn Fotheringham won the day once again.
Following an assist from Swankie he found the bottom corner of the net with an assured strike to grab victory for the Loons just a minute from time.
Meanwhile, Forfar Athletic Manager Dick Campbell has agreed a one-year deal with Danish born former Faroe Islands Under 19 and Under 21 international defender Odmar Faeroe.
Twenty-two-year-old Odmar, who recently arrived in Aberdeen to continue his studies, played for his club B36 Torshavn in both legs of the first preliminary round of the Champions League last month when they lost out on penalties to Irish side Linfield after 210 minutes of football that remained goalless.
This weekend will see another away fixture for the Loons when they travel to face Stenhousemuir on league business.
