FINGERS are crossed that the sun will shine over the lochside this coming Sunday - as Strathmore Cricket Club stage the 2011 Factory Cup six-a-side knockout competition.
Once again, the tournament, postponed from June, has been sponsored by Strathmore Funeral Directors, with £100 prize and a trophy going to the winners.
Some teams have been spotted down at the lochside practising while others will go in blind and hope for the best.
The format, which has been utilised in recent years, will once again apply, with each team allowed to include one cricketer - someone who currently plays senior cricket or has played in more than three senior matches during the previous calendar year.
The senior cricketer can bat, but cannot bowl and must keep wicket while his team is fielding.
The action is set to get underway at 1 pm on Sunday, with the final due to be staged around 6.15 pm.
The early round draw is as follows:-
Preliminary round: 1 pm - Albion v Rugby Club; Quarter-finals; 1.45 pm - Chinatown B v Creekit Bawz Deep; 2.30 pm - Freddie’s Drinkoff v Masons; 3.15 pm - Young Guns v Six on the Beach; 4 pm - Time Bandits v Albion or Rugby Club.
For those watching from the sidelines, and hopefully there will be many, there will be an opportunity to enjoy a refreshment or two, while burgers will be on sale.
