Active Schools kicked off their Forfar, Brechin and Kirriemuir rural sports festivals on Tuesday, October 23, with a football festival at Station Park in Forfar.
Three schools were in attendance, with Inverarity, Aberlemno and Edzell, bringing along two teams, while Forfar Academy sports leaders went along to take part by running activities and refereeing the matches.
The first hour of the festival consisted of drills and skills lead by the sports leaders, and the second hour the schools played matches against each other, which the sports leaders refereed.
This was the Sports Leaders first experience of leading a sport session and they all coped admirably and were a credit to Forfar Academy.
The primary pupils all had a brilliant afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed playing at Forfar Athletic’s stadium.
Active Schools co-ordinator Laura Baikie said: “We hope that many more schools come along to the next rural festival this school year which is the swimming event up in Brechin, as these festivals are a great opportunity for smaller schools to compete against other similar sized schools in Angus.”
The Brechin cluster co-ordinator Kelly Moonlight added: “The pupils had a great time and hopefully this will encourage them to want attend future events.”
