Forfar Athletic kept up the pressure on booking themselves a place for the League One play-off places last night when they trounced Stranraer 4-0 at Stair Park.
The Loons now lie just three points behind fourth-placed Ayr United with eight games remaining.
Manager Dick Campbell has hailed the result as the best of his management career, given Stranraer’s form this season and the fact his side played three-quarters of the game with 10 men after Darren Dods was shown a straight red midway through the first half.
Dale Hilson opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Ten minutes before the break the lead was doubled with a goal from Omar Kader.
Forfar wrapped up the goals in the second half with a penalty from Martyn Fotheringham before Gavin Swankie sealed Stranraer’s fate with a fourth goal from 25 yards.
More details to follow.
The sides meet again this Saturday at Station Park.
