After a 3-0 defeat to Arbroath on Saturday, Forfar Athletic sank to the bottom of the SPFL League One with just four points.

Despite having their chances, the Loons, who found themselves down to 10 men deep into the second half, were unable to find the net or keep the Gayfield side at bay.

Boss Dick Campbell said: “The results don’t tell lies and the league positions don’t tell lies.

“We didn’t play well on Saturday and didn’t deserve to take anything out of the game so we have to get our heads down and start working harder.

“And that’s what I’m focusing on.”

Speaking of Gavin Swankie’s sending off during Saturday’s clash, Campbell added: “I thought it was silly. I’ve never seen a referee change his mind after he’s made a decision in my life.”

But the manager is not worried about the league position as he looks ahead to the next few weeks, he said: “I’ve never seen anything won in the first quarter of a season.

“The best time to look at the league position is January.

“If you win on Saturday you go into fifth. There is one team on four points, there’s three teams on five and one team on six so I’m not getting caught up.

“We’ve got two home games now so let’s see if we can take maximum points from them.”

On Saturday, the Loons will face second placed side Dunfermline Athletic with the boss having just a few extra squad worries with Swankie suspended and Dale Hilson a doubt.
