Kirrie Thistle picked up another big win in their fight to avoid relegation from the McBookie.com East Region Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Kinnoull on Saturday.
The win, their second in succession, puts Wilson Coupar’s men seven points from safety with three games to go.
Thistle had the better of the opening stages but fell behind on 10 minutes when Taylor received a through ball that sliced the Kirrie defence before he slotted home comfortably.
Farquharson had three efforts on goal saved by the Kinnoull goalie in quick succession but the equaliser did come soon after, Stewart Russell prodding home at the second attempt from Miller’s cross.
Craig Logan tested Kinnoull keeper tough twice at the beginning of the second period, first with a lengthy drive that floated just over before his exquisite volley flew just over the bar.
Goalscorer Russell then turned provider for Kirrie’s second, heading Logan’s cross down for Miller to fire in from close range.
Russell then added his ninth of the season, finishing from Cooney’s knock down.
Kirrie now require maximum points from their remaining fixtures with Dundee Violet and Montrose Roselea losing the majority of their games to ensure they remain in the division.
