FORFAR Under-12s gave two very determined performances against Arbroath side St Murdochs at the Academy playing fields on Sunday.
In the first game the visitors raced into a two-goal lead inside ten minutes and would have made it three had Forfar keeper Jamie Noble not saved a penalty after the quarter-hour mark.
But two goals from Robbie McLauchlan levelled matters before the interval and after the re-start he grabbed his hat-trick, firing home after a Cameron Fleming shot was saved by the Murdochs’ keeper.
The visitors levelled midway through the half but Forfar continued to press with Lewis McSherry heading against the bar and Robbie Davidson’s long-range effort skimming the crossbar.
In the second match Forfar grabbed the early initiative and came close through efforts from Lennon Sturrock and Jack Neave.
On the 15-minute mark Nathan Clark found Liam Jones in space and he gave Forfar the lead. Three minutes later the same player made it two after a defensive mix-up.
Jones then followed in McLauchlan’s shoes by completing his hat-trick before half-time.
The second half was evenly balanced and Forfar held on until the closing stages when the Arbroath side grabbed two late goals.
