AFTER a year in abeyance, Forfar West End will return to action this season - competing in the North League.
The club lost its management team and many of its players ahead of the start of the 2011-2012 season.
And, rather than continue to incur fines for being unable to fulfil fixtures it was decided to take a year out and rebuild from the bottom.
And, thanks to the hard work of the committee members throughout the season, things are looking good for the return to match action.
Five new committee members have been brought in, swelling the numbers to 14.
And, Daryl Mckenzie has been appointed manager, with Kevin Garrick and Jamie McBrearty as his assistants.
Daryl and Kevin are former West End players and are to play if required, while Jamie has a wealth of experience in the junior game, having played for Blairgowrie and Lochee Harp among other clubs.
Coming in as goalkeeping coach is Darren McKenzie, Daryl’s uncle.
The first training session was held on Monday evening, with a squad of 14 signed players being joined by half a dozen others, as the management team continues to strengthen for the competitive action ahead.
A number of friendly matches have been fixed up ahead of the first League Cup section match at home to Carnoustie on Saturday, August 11.
West will play Kinnoull and Broughty, while there will also be a trip north to take on Longside in the annual pre-season match for the T. S. Davidson Trophy.
That game goes ahead on Saturday, July 21, with West meeting Kinnoull the following Saturday.
