FORFAR Athletic’s build-up to the new season is taking off - with the Loons making another two excellent signings in the last week.
Joining up at Station Park on a two-year contract is former Arbroath front man Gavin Swankie, while also coming to the club, having been released from Brechin City, is wide player Charlie King.
That takes the number of new faces at Station Park to three, manager Dick Campbell having snapped up defender Keith Gibson, who was also at Gayfield last season, prior to going on holiday. With a number of last season’s regulars - Michael Bolochweckyj, Mark McCulloch, Jamie Bishop, Stephen Tulloch, Martyn Fotheringham, Kevin Motion, Barry Sellars and Chris Templeman - having put pen to paper on new one-year deals, the Forfar boss is slowly but surely putting together a strong squad of players.
It is understood that Dick is hot on the trail of a new goalkeeper, while he will also be keen to further strengthen the squad ahead of a series of away friendly matches, which get underway on Tuesday, July 10 with a trip to Montrose.
Three other matches already fixed up are as follows:- Saturday, July 14 - Cove Rangers; Tuesday, July 17 - Preston Athletic; Saturday, July 21 - Huntly.
Meanwhile, by the time you read this you will know who the Loons play in the opening round of the Ramsdens Cup - with the draw having taken placed on Tuesday (yesterday) in Falkirk.
