Forfar Boys Under-15s saw off Dundee Celtic by five goals to three in last Sunday’s home league encounter.
The Forfar squad was Urquhart, Rigby, Roy, Fotheringham, Norrie, Simpson, Baillie, Shortridge, Davidson, Edward, Watt, Crozier, Duncan, Ferrier.
Forfar opened the scoring when Simpson and Edward combined down the left to set up Shortridge for a fine right foot finish after a strong run into the box.
Davidson then set up Watt who saw his effort saved by the visiting keeper. After conceding an equaliser Forfar regained the lead when Edward set up Shortridge for his second as he fired the ball high over the keeper into the net. Davidson, Edward and Watt then combined to set up Fotheringham who saw his header come back off the post. Watt then picked up loose ball in the box but he stabbed his shot straight at the keeper.
Edward set up Fotheringham who saw his shot blocked but it wasn’t long before Forfar scored a third when man of the match Watt crashed a shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the box after being set up by Edward. Watt then saw another powerful effort from the edge of the box come back off the cross bar.
In the second half Forfar further extended their lead when Edward scored with a good strike from the edge of the box just before Watt hit the side netting with a shot from a tight angle. It was soon five one to Forfar when Crozier picked up a long goal kick from Shortridge to advance on goal and coolly slot the ball past the visiting keeper into the net.
Edward then set up Watt who saw his shot slip just past the far post. Dundee Celtic found the net twice late on, but in truth there was no danger of them getting near taking anything from the game.
